P006 → Typography — Titanesk Full Family Typeface (TypeParis23)

Titanesk is based on the shape of the “unsinkable” transatlantic ship from the early 20th century: the Titanic.

While growing up in Normandy, I discovered the story of the Titanic through Cherbourg, and I was captivated by the ship's journey from construction to its first and final voyage. Since then, I have continuously educated myself about it, and one day, while visiting the official Titanic museum, I discovered the various typographic elements that were onboard through different mediums such as tickets, menus, and currency.

In terms of composition, the curves and elegance of the ship's interior design contrast with the robustness of its industrial movement. From the waves to the darkness of the sea, we encounter a wide array ranging from italics to ExtraBlack, complete with swash alternates.

The font also captures the spirit of the ship with its serifs, arches, and the sense of movement through water. This typeface also signifies that the journey has not ended:
“What was once unsinkable has now become unforgettable.”
